Artist's Statement
Currently
residing in Maryland, Diane Gibson paints watercolors inspired by scenes around the Baltimore area and from her extensive travels around America and in foreign countries. She especially enjoys painting landscapes and floral subjects and says, "I
particularly like the translucency and subtlety available in the watercolor medium."
Education Diane earned degrees from Barnard and Oberlin Colleges and John Hopkins University and for 19 years was Director of Rehabilitation at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital. When she seriously took up her new career as watercolorist, Diane studied at the Maryland Institute of Art with Rod Cook and subsequently with leading watercolor painters Ron Ranson, Skip Lawrence, Tony Couch, Mel Stabin, Don Getz and Marilyn Hughey Phyllis among others.
Professional Affiliations
Diane has served in various Baltimore Watercolor Society Board positions and exhibits her paintings widely in the region. Her work can be seen at the Conference Center at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Towson, Maryland.
