Currently residing in Maryland, Susan Lane is a year 2000 graduate from
the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. There she was
introduced to the Schuler curriculum, which emphasizes painting in the
traditions of the Old Masters, using oil mediums formulated by the late
Jacques Maroger. While completing her five years of Schuler studies, she was also trained in watercolor, portraiture, life drawing and sculpture.
Artist's Statement Despite today’s
tumultuous events, I strive to focus on the beautiful and simple elements that continue to exist in our lives. I try to capture these transitory moments of meaningful reality into paintings that communicate a sense of wholeness, well-being and
cohesiveness. It is in these moments that I am most at peace with the world and with myself, and I hope that viewers of my works can experience my perception.
